Ep. 85- The Dane is Diving and We Aren’t Thriving, with Jamie Grant of the @SouthamptonPage

Another week, another instance of Cedric being out jumped at the back post, another late goal allowed takes points from Saints, and once again we drop points at home, to a team that we would expect to beat given that they were Vardy and Mahrez-less.

Nonetheless, we are here with an episode and this week I’m joined by Jamie Grant (@strangerIngs) who runs the @SuthamptonPage on Twitter and Instagram. We break down the match, discuss the good and the bad and, eventually, get to a brief preview of the Carabao Cup Match with Brighton.

***I recorded this show on the road (actually just off of a road, down by the river) because I have an awesome wife and fantastic friends who plan cool stuff for us to do when it’s around our birthdays, etc.). Thanks to Mondo and Karin, and Biscuit and Luz… and mostly my wife, Amanda… I’ll talk to you when you are done watching that KU Volleyball match.***

As always, I hope you enjoy the show, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Ep. 84- Not Much Good at Goodison, with Daniel Adam from the SaintsFCPage on Instagram

Saints are coming off another loss at Goodison park. Once again, the team started slowly and was on the back foot for much of the first half, and went into halftime down 2-0. Many aspects of the match were similar to those we saw last season. A slow start, Cedric left along and losing a header, an inability to control the game. But, there were also some positives as well. Saints did create some clear chances and Mark Hughes made some attacking changes, at one point going 4-2-4, with three strikers on the pitch. In all, it wasn’t a total loss. No points, but the first of what we all hope will be many Danny Ings goals this season.

The loss, however, does put more pressure on Saints for the return of Claude Puel to St. Mary’s as he brings his Leicester City side, who will be without Jamie Vardy, for a Premier League clash next weekend.

I talk all of that with my guest this week, Daniel Adams. He’s on Twitter @Dan23SFC, and he runs the @TheSaintsFCPage on Instagram. He joined me from Malaysia, where he follows Saints and runs the page. It was a pleasure getting to chat with him, and the page offers a lot to anyone not already following. So, click the links and get over to him now!

Additionally, I had the chance to meet with Neil Crespin, host of the Six-O-Saints Podcast on Sunday. We met while he and his wife were visiting southern California and it was great to sit and chat with both of them, about life, the team, podcasting and everything in between. If you haven’t given the podcat a try yet I encourage you to both listen AND give your input. You can call in and give your opinion on anything Saints related and Neil will have a short chat with you and it will be put on the show. Text 07583 830606 to get started. Also, listen here.

Ep. 83- My Good Friend Mario, With Christian Candler

The first match of the season has come and gone, and Saints get out of it with a 0-0 draw against at home to a Burnley side that was coming off a Thursday night Europa League qualifier in Turkey. The team looked lost during the early going, and it we seemed unable to really control the match in the middle of the park. However, some personnel and formation changes in the second half saw Saints get on the front foot, and the new signings who got in the match all made an impact on the pitch.

I discuss all of that, plus listener questions with Christin Candler (@thecandler on Twitter). Plus, we take your questions and Jay give us a page from the Southampton Page.

Be sure to get in touch with the show and give Christian and the Southampton Page a follow.

Ep. 82- Here. We. Go.- 2018/2019 Season Preview, with Many, Many Guests

Parts of the squad spent time in Russia, most have gone to China and back, been to France, and finally Staplewood and St. Mary’s. As fans, we’ve analyzed transfers and rumors, watched dodgy streams, called for action, and probably gotten our hopes all too high, while at the same time causing scenes in various corners of the internet when the team didn’t perform as well as we would have liked.

With all of that out of the way, the season is here. Finally.

This week on the show I’m joined by a number of guests to help give us some insight into what we think will happen this season. This show wouldn’t be anything without the guests who so willingly contribute their time and the listeners who listen and give feedback as often as they do. This is truly the best thing about the show. Interacting with you, talking to people, getting to hear their reasoning, talking about the club we all love.

Give this week’s guests a follow on Twitter if you are not doing so already.

Guests, in order of appearance:

We spoke before the end of the transfer window, and before the final (somewhat depressing) pre-season match. So, if we seem a bit more cheerful than you think is appropriate, just keep that in mind.
